NOIDA: Nearly 2,898 children with special needs (CWSN) will get an escort allowance of Rs 6,000 for 10 months in July from the state government. Also, 150 girls with disabilities will get a Rs 2,000 stipend for 10 months.
“A stipend of Rs 200 will be given for 10 months to selected girls with disabilities. Till last year, it was given to 90 girls” said Rakesh Kumar, district coordinator of iinclusive education on Wednesday. “The stipend will be given to those students who can provide verified documents with medical certificates from recognised institutes or medical representatives,” Kumar added.
Officials said the stipend will most likely be accounted for in July. “The verification of documents is currently under process and the fund has not been approved yet. Once approved, the money will be directly credited to the bank account provided by parents of CWSN students,” the official added.
Escort allowance is given to students whose parents or guardians accompany them to government schools. It was introduced under the Sarva Siksha Aviyan Scheme 2016 to provide aid to students suffering from spastic, dyslexic, or autistic diseases, or visually-impaired or physically-challenged kids.
