National Federation of The Blind Karnataka state branch which is commonly known as NFB Karnataka, came into existence on 10th July 2004.
This is a state chapter and integral part of national federation of the blind (India). Since its inception the federation has been striving for resolving all problems of visually challenged population of the state. Key focus of our activities is to promote rehabilitation, education, employment, cultureral development and social participation of visually challenged and low vision persons to make them contributing citizens of our great nation.
Principle office of the federation is located in Bangalore, It has two regional units at Mysore and Hubli respectively and more than 1200 visually challenged individuals have taken its membership.
Our prime activities at present include – two hostels for college going blind boys at Bangalore and Mysore, store for supply of essential aids and appliances for the use of blind and low vision persons in partnership with NIVH Dehradun, Braille cum talking library, Information/counseling service.
We are also engaged in advocacy and lobbing to the state government for promotion and enforcement of all legitimate entitlements of our blind peers in walks of education, rehabilitation and employment.
The federation is run and managed by its blind members and in accordance with democratic polity and written bylaws.
