National Federation of the Blind Karnataka holds  2 days short term training workshop for students with visual disabilities  in use of various assistive devices and for their sensitization/awareness towards availability of accessible  reading material/reading & learning devices  and many other facilities and benefits in area of Education, Employment and socio –economic rehabilitation

Venue: Maheshwari School for the Blind Belgaum Karnataka

Schedule of the Workshop – 5th & 6th August 2017 (Saturday and Sunday)

Number of participants – 50 including inmates students of the Maheshwari school for the blind Belgaum (from 8th to 10th Std), visually impaired teachers of the Maheshwari school and some passed out students of the same institution

Agenda of the workshop

Day 1 (5th August, Saturday) :-

1. Inaugural session – 10.AM to 11.00 AM

2.  Parallel training sessions in use of Smart phone, Daisy player and Smart Cane  of 45 minutes  from 11 AM to 5.00PM

3. Each   of 3 parallel batches will comprise of around 6 participants

Day 2 (6th August Sunday)

1. Session -1 – Orientation and demo of Electronic and other assistive devices-   10.00 to 11.30 AM

2. Session -2 –counseling and guidance towards various innovative carrier options - 11.30 to 12.30 PM

3. Session -3 – Information and guidance on access to various sources of accessible reading material and availability of assistive learning and reading devices – 12.30 to 1.30 PM

4. Lunch Break – 1.30 to 2.00 PM

5. Session -4 – Various schemes and programs for socio-economic empowerment of persons with visual impairment in public and private sector  including National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities and National Federation of the Blind  - 2.00 to 4.00 PM

6. Valedictory Session – 4.00 PM to 5.00PM 

Resource persons for Day -1

A panel of  5 -6 well qualified  instructors/trainers  will conduct all training session , the panel will be comprising of  Mr. Mahesh Ranani  as Chief Instructor and Mr.Hemanth , Hampaiah, Sachin and others as instructors

Resource persons for Day -2

The session 1 (Demonstration/ orientation of various assistive devices) will be held by the panel of the instructors of Day 1

Session 2 (Counseling/Guidance on innovative carrier option) by Dr. Sunil Gokhale

Session -3 (availability of reading material and assistive devices) by Sri. Nagaraj M Sirsi president of NFB Karnataka

Session -4 (Schemes and programs for socio-economic empowerment of persons with visual disability in public and private sector) by Sri. Gautam Agarwal General Secretary NFB Karnataka
