HC seeks DU reply on facilities for disabled 15.4.2022 (Advocacy)

New Delhi: Delhi High Court has sought the response of the Delhi government and Delhi University on a plea by a disabled law student seeking better facilities for such students.

Justice Rekha Palli recently granted two weeks to DU to place its stand on a plea by Jayant Singh Ragav that Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law must provide assistive devices to such students as per their disability to sit for examinations. DU contended that the relief would need further deliberation as it involved huge expenditure. The plea highlighted the improper access for disabled people to move freely in the educational institutions. It urged the court to direct University Grants Commission and other respondents to ensure implementation of previous orders by all educational institutions. An amicus has been appointed in the case.
