Dear Readers we are glad to circulate some important news and announcement of National Federation of the Blind Karnataka state chapter.

  1. Announcement of NFB Excellency Awards 2019:- NFB Karnataka has announced its as ever NFB Excellency Awards 2019. The notice issued by the federation for inviting the applications for above mentioned awards is reproduced below

Notice for NFB Excellency Award  2019

Applications are invited for prestigious STATE LEVEL NFB-EXCELLENCY AWARD-2019 from Karnataka residing Visually Impaired individuals to recognize their outstanding performance in their respective areas.

This award is given in four categories namely Role model Employ, Role model in Self-employment, Role model in Arts/culture/sports and Role model in social work.  These Awards shall be presented on the occasion of International World Braille day on 4th January 2020 in Bangalore. 

Interested person may submit their application in the prescribed FORMAT available at on NFB Karnataka website - www.nfbkarnataka.org-download

 

Duly filled up forms along with   copies of Testimonials & Achievements with photographs may be submitted latest by 30th November 2019 only by e-mail at nfbkarnataka@gmail.com

Description of awards in above mentioned categories   :-

A. NFB Excellency Award in above mentioned 4 categories is intended for such visually impaired person of the state who has made extraordinary performance in their respective filed.

The award   in each category carries cash or gifts of worth Rs. 10,000/- and citation

Definition of award in each category

a. Employ – means award to a V.I. Employee either  working  in public or private sector for his/her exemplary position/performance and   achievements in professional carrier. 

b. Self Employed – means a V.I. person who is self employed in area of services/trading/industry etc. and achieved an exemplary success in that particular profession.

c. Art, Culture & Sports – means award to a V.I. Person for his/her extraordinary performance and exemplary achievements at National or International level in area of Arts, culture & sports.

d. Social Service – means award to a V.I. person for his/her long and remarkable voluntary service in any area of human life.

General Rules and procedure for application and nomination to the above mentioned awards:-

1. All the awards are intended only for Karnataka residing visually impaired individuals

2. A selection committee under chairmanship of the president of NFB Karnataka will scrutinize all the applications and take the final decision to nominate the awardees for all above mentioned awards. Decision of the committee in this regard will be final and binding to all.

3. The member of the selection committee shall also be entitled to recommend the name of the nominee for each award

4. The selection committee also reserves the right to defers any of the above mentioned awards without assigning any reason. 

5.  A Prescribe application form for NFB Excellency awards is enclosed with this notice as annexure -1

6. Qualifying travel expense of the awardees and their escorts from outside Bangalore will be reimbursed.

7. Appropriate lodging and boarding arrangement for awardees and their escort from out of Bangalore shall be made by the federation

  1. Announcement of NFB Prathibha Awards 2019 :- NFB Karnataka has also announced its annual prathibha award for meritorious visually challenged students for the state in different categories. The notice issued by the federation for inviting the applications for the said award may be referred as under

Applications are invited for prestigious STATE LEVEL NFB-PRATHIBHA AWARD-2019 from Karnataka residing Visually Impaired meritorious students who have passed out SSLC, PUC, Degree and PG courses in 2019 with aggregated marks not less than 90% in SSLC and PUC, 80% in Degree and 70% in PG. 

 

These Awards shall be presented on the occasion of International World Braille day on 4th January 2020 in Bangalore. 

 

Eligible students may submit their application in the prescribed FORMAT available at on NFB Karnataka website - www.nfbkarnataka.org-download

Description of awards   :-

NFB Prathibha Award in above mentioned 4 categories is intended for such visually impaired students of the state who has made extraordinary performance in their respective academic course as mentioned above.

The award   in each category carries cash prize of Rs. 11,000/- and citation

General Rules and procedure for application and nomination to the above mentioned awards:-

 

  1. All the awards are intended only for Karnataka residing visually impaired students
  2. The award in each category shall be conferred to such students who will hold the first position in term of aggregated marks of his/her respective course among all applicants in same category.
  3. Keeping in view the challenges faced by young VI students in pursuing innovative non art courses like commerce, Business management, business administration, computer application, etc, and for encouragement of all such students a special provision has been made for this year in term of which, relaxation of 5% marks is granted in minimum qualifying marks to non-art students of PUC, Degree and PG to apply for the award and grace of 5% shall also be granted to them in calculation of merit. For example the non-art students of PUC, Degree and PG as mentioned above with 85% in PUC, 75% in Degree and 65% in PG shall also be eligible to apply for this award and in calculating the first position in all these 3 categories the non-art students will be given a grace of 5%

It may be understood by another example that in case a non-art top scorer in PUC, Degree and PG is having 89% marks with a grace of 5% marks his/her marks shall be considered equal to 94%   and if a Art student in same category is having below 94% marks the non-art student will be nominated for the Prathibha Award in that category.  

 

  1. The nominees of all prathibha awards shall be member of the federation except those who are below age of 18years.
